West Genesee teachers visit

On Feb. 13th, we showed our hydro- and aqua- ponics systems to two teachers from the West Genesee schools. We pointed out our Bonzai wheel and our Fish tank along with our main system. We ended the show with a movie and sent the teachers away with a bag of cilantro each.

Daily and Weekly To-Do's

DAILY

Use the small net to skim fish droppings out of the tank. Dump into growing bed.

Check the fish tank level. If low - Fill it using the water from Blue Reserve Barrel.

IF NEED BE: Fill the Blue Reserve Barrel using the garden hose from the sink.

Clear the "Inflow" slots and mix in the fish droppings into the LECAstones

Mist all the plants on the growing bed (if empty... fill spray bottle with tank water

Check & Complete the Aquaponic Testing Chart (pH, temp, Ammonia, etc...)

Inspect the "Germination Station" (Does it need tank water? Are all seedlings growing?)

Feed the fish (Approximately a third of the amount of food figured for the day)

WEEKLY

Fill the BONZAI HYDROPONIC WHEEL Tank (Clean out & replace nutrient solution EVERY TWO WEEKS)

Clean (with water & sponge) and wipe down the growing Bed, Inside Tank Rim, & Air-Pump Stand/Pipes

Clean tank plexi-glass shield 9spray the glass cleaner on paper ONLY! DO NOT spray on the plexi-glass!!!!!!

Squeege and clean the inside of the fish tank's viewing window (Clean the outside with glass cleaner)

Clean, wipe down & organize the "Aquaponic Testing Counter" and all the testing equipment

Clean (Wet sponge or handi-wipe) the Bonzai Wheel and white frame. Pick off any floating leaves.

Check the Bonzai Wheel Light Timer & the Germination Station Timer

Weigh the fish (record average of the sampling of five fish.
